Hootsuite and GivingTuesday Announce New Partnership to Deepen the Movement’s Impact of Generosity and Giving Worldwide

VANCOUVER, BC — September 28th, 2023 —  Hootsuite, the global leader in social media management, is proud to announce its new partnership with GivingTuesday, the global generosity movement launched in 2012, to support its mission to increase generosity worldwide through Hootsuite’s tools and collaborate on industry research and trends. Through this partnership, Hootsuite is offering GivingTuesday pro bono services, digital tools and access to its on-demand Hootsuite Academy courses and certifications.

Since its launch in 2012, GivingTuesday’s vision for a re-imagined world built on shared humanity, kindness, and giving has continued to inspire generosity, community connection, and civic engagement across the globe each year. In 2022 alone, $3.1 billion of critical support for communities and causes was donated in just 24 hours in addition to countless acts of advocacy, kindness, and volunteerism that happened around the world.

“Social media has the extraordinary power to transform casual internet users into changemakers by harnessing their energy for good, igniting a wave of generosity that can ripple across the world, creating a brighter future,” said Kat Murphy Toms, Director of Digital Strategy, GivingTuesday. “We’re so grateful to the Hootsuite team for helping us inspire a radically different world.”

Over the past decade, social media has played an increasingly important role in raising awareness and driving important behaviors such as giving. According to Pew Research Center, a median of 77% across the 19 countries surveyed say social media is an effective way to raise public awareness about socio political issues. As a social media management platform, Hootsuite's purpose is to help companies connect more deeply with their audience. Hootsuite’s Social Impact team is specifically focused on empowering and enabling nonprofit organizations like GivingTuesday to unlock the full potential of social media to achieve their mission.

“Social media plays a critical role in helping nonprofit organizations reach supporters of their cause, provide information, deliver help when it’s needed, and inspire people to take action,” said Eva Taylor, Director of Social Impact, Hootsuite. “We are thrilled to be partnering with GivingTuesday to help further their impact by providing them with tools that can drive efficiencies for their team, so that they can spend more time on what matters most: collaborating and innovating to grow generosity worldwide.”

In addition to content management and campaign measurement, GivingTuesday will benefit from Hootsuite Amplify, Hootsuite’s advocacy tool, to better connect and share content with collaborators leading local GivingTuesday activations around the world. Hootsuite and GivingTuesday will also be collaborating on research, trends and data to help fuel insights and best practices that will support the broader generosity ecosystem over the months ahead. The first such collaboration is taking place on October 4, 2023, where Kat Murphy Toms will share insider insights on mobilizing abundant generosity within your local community on November 28 and beyond at Uplift — A Workshop for Social Good, a free virtual learning event created by Hootsuite’s Social Impact team for nonprofits.
